Danny Pettingill is a Designer, Theatremaker and artist based in Melbourne, Australia.
For the last six years Danny has worked as a Lighting Designer for Theatre, Space and Architecture and also works as a Set and Production Designer in theatre and film designing for an extensive range of theatre productions and commercially for a lighting design firm based in melbourne designing commissions for retail, private residential and corporate projects throughout Australia. Current interests include the extension of his lighting practice into using projectors and designing video for theatre and installation projects, you can see his progress soon in new works by Peepshow inc. in September 2001 and Ilbijerri theatre with the Melbourne Festival in October 2011.
Danny brings a highly conceptual approach to design for Theatre, Installation, site specific work and Architectural projects or something that doesn’t quite fit in ‘the box’. He relies heavily on inspiration from a range of artists, influences and styles from around the world, drawing on a huge range of visual and historical material to generate work.
